Position Summary:

To participate in the fulfillment of the Great Commission and the purpose of our church by providing Pastoral leadership for the development, direction, and oversight of the High School Ministry of Golden Hills Community Church.


Leadership Role:

The Pastor for High School Ministry will provide leadership for the High School Ministry department (HSM) while also providing supervisory leadership of department staff.


Responsibilities:


  1. Leadership Development
    1. Provide coaching and oversight to the following: High School Ministry (or Student Ministries) Administrative Assistant, HSM Coordinators / Small Group Leaders / Team Leaders
    2. Coach those you lead in applying the Theological Vision for Ministry (TVM) to their mission of making, equipping, and developing disciples
    3. Cultivate healthy ministry partnerships by equipping and empowering others
    4. Initiate the wise use of church resources through careful planning and sound preparation, ready to meet needs as they arise
    5. Encourage a culture that embraces faithful stewardship, expressed through a commitment to hard work, personal growth, and humble service
    6. Articulate and exemplify a gospel-driven approach to obedience and Christian maturity for those you lead

 

  1. Ministry Development
    1. Develop annual measurable goals for the ministry
    2. Organize and implement strategic steps to achieve stated outcomes
    3. Develop and implement a strategic partnership with parents in the cause of discipling kids
    4. Provide oversight of HSM budget and ensure allocation of resources is compatible with goals and objectives
    5. Provide regular communication to staff and church at large


  1. Pastoral Care
    1. Provide primary upfront communication and preaching for High School ministry gatherings
    2. Participate and/or supervise the counseling and care for the spiritual needs of students and parents as appropriate.
    3. Preach and teach in other settings when needed
    4. Perform weddings and funerals, and administer the ordinances when needed

  2. Ministry Programs
    1. Recruit, equip, and oversee volunteer staff for HSM
    2. Implement and maintain all areas of HSM student leadership
    3. Plan and oversee HSM short-term cross-cultural ministry efforts

  3. Other
    1. The Pastor for High School Ministry is actively participating in the following groups/meetings: Pastors and Directors, “All Staff” meetings, Discipleship Team, Staff Development meetings.
    2. The Pastor for High School Ministry shall be responsible for other duties that may be assigned by a supervisor.

  4. Reporting
    1. The Pastor for High School Ministry shall report directly to the Pastor for Discipling and Young Adult Ministry.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):


Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. At least 5 years experience ministering to youth and leading youth ministry volunteers
  3. Graduate training in theology or ministry may be substituted for a portion of ministry experience


Spiritual Requirements:

  1. A growing Christian faith and character
  2. A commitment to the mission of the church
  3. A confirmed calling to pastoral ministry
  4. A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for pastors (1 Tim. 3; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1)

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
