Purpose:

The Director of Community Outreach Center Programs will assist in the fulfillment of the Great Commission and the purpose of Golden Hills Community Church by collaborating with the Pastor for the Community Outreach Center (COC) in variety of ministry aspects through the COC. 


Leadership Role:

The Director of Community Outreach Center Programs will empower, train, and encourage ministry partners who show an aptitude and willingness for leadership and growth in Christian service.

 

Responsibilities:


  1. Leadership Development
    1. Coach those you lead in applying the Theological Vision for Ministry (TVM) to their mission of making, equipping, and developing disciples.
    2. Cultivate healthy ministry partnerships by equipping and empowering others.
    3. Initiate the wise use of church resources through careful planning and sound preparation, ready to meet needs as they arise.
    4. Encourage a culture which embraces faithful stewardship, expressed through a commitment to hard work, personal growth, and humble service.
    5. Articulate and exemplify a gospel-driven approach to obedience and Christian maturity for those you lead.

 

  1. Ministry Development
    1. Develop annual measurable goals for the ministry.
    2. Organize and implement strategic steps to achieve stated outcomes.
    3. Collaborate with the Pastor for the Community Outreach Center to establish an annual budget.
    4. Provide regular communication to the staff and church at large.
    5. Meet with teams or workgroups as necessary to accomplish goals.


  1. Ministry Programs
  2. Research community assets that would help guests access housing, employment, treatment, training, and other needed resources for holistic healing and spiritual restoration.
  3. Maintain an active and current listing of community resources that COC guests can access for various needs and services.
  4. Meet with COC guests to develop treatment plans for those with mental illness or those recovering from traumatic events and frequently communicate to ensure physical and mental health.
  5. Identify, recruit, and train Ministry Partner Team Leaders to oversee the various ministry programs of the COC to reach our community with the Gospel and disciple believers for Christ.
  6. Provide knowledge, experience, and coaching to Ministry Partner Team Leaders to grow in their capacity to lead a particular ministry aligned to the theological vision for ministry of Golden Hills Community Church.
  7. Work with the Team Leaders to provide knowledge, experience, and coaching to team members who will serve faithfully and grow as disciples.
  8. Meet regularly with ministry teams to provide encouragement and guidance. Periodically plan training events for ministry teams to help them better function and accomplish desired outcomes.
  9. Promote, organize, and distribute necessary items to help those in compromising situations obtain a greater sense of confidence and self-worth.
  10. Carry out or assist in other duties as deemed necessary and as assigned by the Community Outreach Center Pastor.


  1. Other
    1. The Director of Community Outreach Center Programs is an active participant in the following groups/meetings: Pastors and Directors meetings, “All Staff” meetings, and Community Outreach Center meetings.
    2. The Director of Community Outreach Center Programs shall be responsible for other duties that may be assigned by a supervisor.
    3. Directors will either be existing members of Golden Hills Community Church or enter the membership process as soon as possible after onboarding.

 

Reporting:

The Director of Community Outreach Center Programs shall report directly to the Pastor for the Community Outreach Center.

Personal Characteristics

These responsibilities demand the Director to be in possession of a high view of scripture, clear alignment with the theological vision for ministry and affirmation of faith of Golden Hills Community Church, and deep compassion for people that leads them to both gospel words and gospel works, living out the rich implications of the gospel in both word and deed. With an understanding that unhealthy cycles are symptomatic of deeper issues, the Director should be ready to teach the principles of relief, rehabilitation, and development, and how those principles relate to discipleship, restoration of human relationships, and the proclamation of God’s glory in every area of the world. The Director should have a proven track record of effective leadership and training others and be able to patiently and lovingly connect with people of various ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds.


Education, Experience, and Skills

The Director should be able to leverage both spoken and written media to clearly communicate ministry needs and goals. He or she should also have experience in developing partnerships across a wide spectrum of organizations building toward a common goal. We are looking for someone who is a team builder and a solution finder.


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to relief, development, social work, counseling, or missiology. Advanced degrees and career experience in those areas are preferable.
